What we aim for on this site, what we have actually done, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us if something blocks you.

What we are aiming for

We work to WCAG 2.2 level AA on this site, the same standard we hold client work to. There is no government certification that makes a site “ADA compliant”, so we will not claim one. What we can tell you is what we have done and what we have not.

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard and some parts do not yet. The gaps are listed below rather than buried.

What we have done here

  • Every menu, form and control can be reached and operated by keyboard alone, with a focus outline you can see.
  • Text and button colors are checked for contrast. Where our brand green would have failed behind white text, we used black instead rather than shipping something unreadable.
  • Images carry meaningful alternative text, and decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
  • Headings run in order and describe the section they open, so a screen reader user can navigate by structure.
  • Form fields have real labels, required fields are marked in text and not by color alone, and errors are described in words.
  • Animation respects the reduced-motion setting in your operating system.
  • Pages are readable and operable on a phone without horizontal scrolling.

Where we know we fall short

Captions on video. Our showreel is hosted on Vimeo and not every clip carries captions yet. We are working through the library. If you need a transcript of any video on this site, ask and we will send you one.

Third-party embeds. The booking calendar on our schedule page is supplied by Google and rendered inside their frame. We chose it deliberately, but we do not control its markup and cannot fix it ourselves. If it blocks you, call us and we will book the time with you directly.

Background video. Several pages use silent looping video behind the header text. It carries no information and is paused for anyone with reduced motion enabled, but it is decorative rather than described.

Tell us if something blocks you

If any part of this site stops you doing what you came to do, we want to hear about it, and we will help you finish the task another way in the meantime.

Email web@cucumberand.co or call 304.250.0123 and a person answers. Tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within two business days, and we will tell you what we can fix and when.

Anything you can do on this site you can also do by phone. That includes signing up, which we can walk through with you rather than leaving you to a form.

How this was assessed

By self-evaluation. We tested by keyboard, with a screen reader, and against automated contrast and markup checks. No independent third party has audited this site. If that changes we will say so here.
